Claudia García is a graduate of Harvard University where she founded Mariachi Veritas, the first university mariachi in the East Coast. After graduating, she was selected to perform on Univision’s Festival de Mariachi. The following year, she began teaching mariachi in her hometown of San Diego and attended Southwestern College to earn a Certificate of Achievement in Music with Mariachi Specialization. Claudia has taught mariachi as well as guitar/armonía, violin and voice group and private lessons to students ages 5-18 and recently co-organized a student mariachi conference at UCLA with members of Mariachi UCLAtlán. In 2018, Claudia was featured in the “Trailblazing Women of Mariachi” exhibit accompanying the play “American Mariachi” at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. She currently teaches music for P.S. Arts and co-teaches Mariachi Corazón de Magnolia, an elementary-school mariachi ensemble.
Claudia also writes and produces her own music, which she recently released with her band Ruby Clouds. They perform regularly throughout Southern California and their debut EP with original songs in English and Spanish has received airplay across the country.
